Winter is still here but spring is just around the corner. The unit is therefore actively preparing for the return of the good weather by preparing the soil for spring sowing (forage corn) but also by preparing the cows for the imminent return to pasture. To do this, this week we carried out a preventive trimming of all the dairy cows. We are also starting the Magnesium supplementation to prevent grass tetanus.

The growth of grass is still modest
(28 kg DM/ ha/ day) but a successful grazing season is one that starts early. The limiting factor for the pine tree is the bearing capacity of the soil, but as soon as this allows it, taking the animals out benefits both the animals and the grassland to prepare for the next growth. To stimulate future growth, we are also making the first applications of mineral nitrogen this week.
